Proverbs 31 Wife
The Woman Who Fears the Lord
"An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.
The heart of her husband trust in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good, and no harm,
all the days of her life."
Proverbs 31:10-12
The world is surrounded with a enormous amount of women, and we are all different in numerous ways that I cannot count. God has created us to be who he wants us to be. "Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called." (1 Corinthians 7:17,20)
I have seen a small count of women that are "all-around" wives. When I think of what a wife should be like, the first thought in my head is a Proverbs 31 wife. For it states in the Word, "she opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy." (Proverbs 31:20) It also states, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." (Proverbs 31:28) It clearly states in the chapter what the Lord expects out of wives. I only hope to be able to be a Proverbs 31 wife when the time comes for me. I pray to the Lord to make me who he wants me to be and not what I want to be, to take over my life and guide me along his path to righteousness.
"And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man." (Genesis 2:22) The Lord made man, and he created a woman for him. For being a perfect wife isn't realistic or possible; however, shall we follow the Word of God, and live out his Word as he has commanded us to the best of our ability. A loving and devoted wife should devote time to the Lord and live out a life for her husband and children to see that is devoted to Jesus Christ. The Lord shall be put first above any earthly thing. "If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." (Colossians 3:1-2) As Christ should be the center of every marriage and family, for without our Lord we are nothing. A wife shall emphasize the importance of God in her life and her family's life.
"Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord." (Colossians 3:18)
As time has gone on throughout the years, wives are not what they used to be. Time has continued on, morals have changed, positions have changed... needless to say, a lot has changed for a lot of people. Some women tend to not take on the role as a devoted and Christian wife, and few do. We should try to be or become the Proverbs 31 wife as the Lord has commanded and live a life that is righteous in his name.
"The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen." (Revelation 22:21)
